New Delhi Tour
Historic Evolution of Delhi
Down the ages, the region around modern Delhi saw many historic cities rise: Lalkot in the mid-11th century, Siri founded by Alauddin Khilji, Tughlakabad and Ferozabad built by the Tughlaqs, followed by the Lodi city, and later Shahjahanabad, the Mughal capital under Shah Jahan. New Delhi reflects the legacy of British rule. The divide between Old Delhi and New Delhi highlights the contrast between Mughal and British capitals. Wherever a visitor goes, Delhi’s past is always present.
Delhi’s Vibrant Character
The dynamic energy of Delhi brings one back from its silent history. The Walled City and New Delhi also showcase different lifestyles— the Walled City preserves age-old traditions, while New Delhi represents a modern city built to contemporary international standards.

India Gate
This 42m-high stone arch of triumph stands at the eastern end of Rajpath. It bears the names of 85,000 Indian Army soldiers who died in World War I and in the Northwest Frontier campaigns.

Red Fort
The red sandstone walls of Lal Qila (Red Fort) stretch for 2 km, rising from 18 m on the riverside to 33 m on the city side. Started by Shah Jahan in 1638.
Qutub Minar
One of the earliest Muslim monuments in India, it was built around 1230 by Iltutmish of the Delhi Sultanate. Constructed in the early 13th century a few kilometers south of Delhi, the red sandstone tower is richly carved.

Rashtrapati Bhavan
The official residence of the President of India, it stands at the opposite end of Rajpath from India Gate. This palace-like structure showcases an impressive blend of Mughal and Western architectural styles.

Raj Ghat
Mahatma Gandhi was cremated here in 1948. This expansive site on the banks of the Yamuna features a brick platform flanked by an eternal flame and surrounded by lush green lawns.
Sansad Bhavan
Although a large and imposing structure, Sansad Bhavan—the Indian Parliament building—stands almost hidden at the end of Sansad Marg. This impressive circular complex is surrounded by a grand colonnaded facade.
